The Dream

???: A pilgrim has arrived to the Dream.
Yes, a brave soul approaches...
One of Inheritance, one of Glyph
Illyia is seen falling through the stars.
Gentle Dreamer, you have come to a cursed, and forsaken place.
But not one beyond hope.
Within you lies the potential for Ascendance.
Illyia falls onto a platform, in front of a statue of the Goddess of the Moon. Gears spin in the background, working some unknown machine. A fence adorns the platform, and two streetlights are set upon either side. 3 pillars erect from the ground, and a symbol forms on each one. In the middle, a sword, on the left, a shield, and on the right, a staff.
Tell me, little Dreamer. Who are you, really?
What power lays dormant within you?
And...what would you sacrifice to obtain it?
Choose wisely.
Illyia is left to choose which of the sigils she will keep as her strength.

The Choice

If she chooses the Shield:
The Sigil of the Shield. A symbol of tenacity and determination. The power to protect yourself, and endure any hardship. Is this what lies dormant within you?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The Strength of the Shield is yours.
The sigil of the Shield disappears, leaving the Sword and Staff to be chosen.
If she chooses the Sword:
The Sigil of the Sword. A symbol of courage and vigor. The power to destroy those who would stand in your way. Is this what lies dormant within you?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The Strength of the Sword is yours.
The sigil of the Sword disappears, leaving the Shield and Staff to be chosen.
If she chooses the Staff:
The Sigil of the Staff. A symbol of skill and ingenuity. The power to endlessly draw upon that which knowledge brings. Is this what lies dormant within you?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The Strength of the Staff is yours.
The sigil of the Staff disappears, leaving the Shield and Sword to be chosen.
Once a symbol has been chosen:
Now...what would you sacrifice in exchange?
Illyia is left to choose between the two remaining symbols.
If she chooses the Sword:
???: Rejection. Your only talent...and still, you throw it away. What are you without it?
The Sigil of the Sword. You would sacrifice such a thing?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The sigil of the Sword disappears, leaving the Shield/Staff alone in the Dream.
If she chooses the Staff:
???: Resignation. So quick to abandon your aspirations. But you were never going to make it, were you?
The Sigil of the Staff. You would sacrifice such a thing?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The sigil of the Staff disappears, leaving the Shield/Sword alone in the dream.
If she chooses the Shield:
???: Arrogance. You can't protect anyone, or yourself. A soldier without a shield is the first to die. How are you any different?
The Sigil of the Shield. You would sacrifice such a thing?
Yes/No
If Yes is chosen:
The sigil of the Shield disappears, leaving the Sword/Staff alone in the Dream.
I see.
You choose the Sigil of the Choice 1 (Shield, Sword, Staff), and you would sacrifice the Sigil of the Choice 2 (Staff, Sword, Shield). Is that right?
Yes/No
If No:
The screen fades to black.
Oh? Then tell me, little Dreamer...
Fade in to Illyia, stood upon the platform. All three sigils are re-lit.
What power lays dormant within you?
What would you sacrifice to obtain it?
Choose wisely...
If Yes:
How interesting.
If no choice is made after 5 minutes:
You refuse to choose, little Dreamer? To embrace chaos? It may be difficult. You may not like what you find within yourself.
Yes/No
If No:
The screen fades to black.
Oh? Then tell me, little Dreamer...
Fade in to Illyia, stood upon the platform. All three sigils are re-lit.
What power lays dormant within you?
What would you sacrifice to obtain it?
Choose wisely...
If Yes:
How unusual. So be it
The potential within you is great, little Dreamer.
The potential for Ascendance.
The potential to end it all
The music fades away, leaving only silence.
But hurry, Illyia of Moonstone...
The dream is breaking...
The dream is broken by the sound of a familiar voice.

Wake Up!

Lilly of Emerald: Illy?
Illy...?
ILLYIA!
Illyia of Moonstone: Ug - huh!?
What are you still doing in bed? I thought you wanted me to help you practice!
Illyia pulls the covers back over her head.
Ughh... come on... we don't land for, like, another two days...
Right! Which is exactly why you should be practicing!
What about food... can't we eat first?
Breakfast will probably be ready by the time we're done! Come on, let's go down to the cargo hold.
I'll go set it all up now. Get up, okay?
Lilly walks out of the room, and after she's out, Illyia pulls the covers back off.
(sigh)
Illyia fully gets out of bed, tired.
... what a weird dream.
Silence. Illyia ruffles her hair into her signature braid.
Bleh... let's get this over with.

En route to Centralia: Airship

Illyia is left to explore the airship at her leisure.

Interact with Stuff

Interact with her luggage:
(My luggage. It's a mess, but a controlled mess.)
(I forgot my pajamas at home... Eugh.)
Interact with Lily's luggage:
(Lilly's luggage. Impeccably organized, just like she is.)
(I should just steal her spare pajamas instead of sleeping in my clothes... we're twins, after all.)
Inspect the desk:
(A bunch of school books... Lilly must have been up late studying again.)
(Hrm. They look kinda difficult. I don't understand what any of this stuff means.)

Interact with NPCs

Talk to the Weary Passenger:
Weary Passenger: Terrible storm, isn't it? Came out of nowhere.
Eight days in the clouds... bet you can't wait to put your feet on some solid ground, eh?
Hmph. The longer we stay up here, the better.
Not so eager to return to that school of yours, eh? Ah, I'm sure you'll do just fine, lass.
Talk to the Elderly Passenger:
Elderly Passenger: Goodness, you're up quite early, aren't you? Your sister was rushing about in a huff, poor dear.
We've gotten so accustomed to seeing you kids running about the halls -- I'll honestly miss it when we land!
Talk to the Wealthy Woman:
Wealthy Woman: Jacques, stop moping around, for Goddess' sake!
As if it wasn't BAD enough that Father forced me to come and fetch you from the other side of the world, but now I have to babysit you as well!
How is a grown man acting like a child supposed to take over the family business...?
Talk to the Wealthy Wanderer:
Sigh... quite a storm, huh?
Talk to the Surly Passenger:
Surly Passenger: Hmph. That stone you carry, your strange attire...
You're a Runist. Didn't think there were many of you people left, nowadays
Or much need for Runists anymore, for that matter.
Illyia of Moonstone: Uh, I'm pretty sure people still need Runic to, you know, power AIRSHIPS? Like the one we're riding?
Surly Passenger: A Runic ENGINE powers this ship, not a Runist. How long before your kind are replaced entirely?
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
Talk to the Merchant:
Merchant: Hey, kid!
You go to that big Runist school in Centralia, yeah?
Jest between you and me, if you ever wanna quit all that Runist nonsense, I'll buy that Moonstone off of you for a good price. Real Glyphstones are rare and getting rarer, you know!
Illyia of Moonstone: Uh, I'll pass, thanks.
Talk to the Docker:
Docker: Please head inside to your cabin, miss! The wind out here is dangerous for passengers!
Talk to the Lost Passenger:
Lost Passenger: Eh... is this really the only way to the dinin' hall? It's stormin' so hard out there...
Illyia of Moonstone: There's the long way around, but it takes like 10 minutes. Better to just get wet and be done with it.
Talk to the Lead Engineer:
Lead Engineer: Hm... some weird readings aside, the engine heat levels are normal.
First Mate: This storm came out of nowhere. You're absolutely sure everything is fine?
Lead Engineer: She's a good, strong ship! She'll be able to shrug off the turbulence until we get out of this storm.
Talk to the First Mate:
First Mate: Miss, I must ask you to not bother the Captain as he pilots the airship.
Please, retire to the dining area. Breakfast will be served soon, I'm sure.
Attempt to bother the Captain:
First Mate: MISS!! What do you think you're doing!?
Illyia stands frozen, shocked, then steps away from the captain, turning to face the First Mate.
Miss, DO NOT bother the Pilot right now. He's NOT to be bothered. Where are your parents?
Attempt to bother the Captain again:
First Mate: MISS!! What do you think you're doing!?
Illyia stands frozen, shocked, then steps away from the captain, turning to face the First Mate.
Miss, WHAT did I just tell you!? Just... run along, now!
Attempt to bother the Captain a third time:
First Mate: MISS!! What do you think you're doing!?
Illyia stands frozen, shocked, then steps away from the captain, turning to face the First Mate.
That's it!! OUT! OUT WITH YOU!
Attempt to enter after being kicked out by the First Mate:
(Ah... the door's locked, huh...)

Interruption

After traversing the Airship, Illyia goes down to the cargo hold, but before she can enter, she is stopped by two other students, one wearing a lavender hoodie with long sleeves, and another wearing a faded blue dress.
Farrin of Amethyst: ..!
... Illyia."
The other student perks up, and turns to face Illyia.
Ceci of Aquamarine: Well, well, if it isn't Moony. ~♪"
Off to practice your ridiculous sword runic? ~♪
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
What do YOU want, Ceci?
Ceci of Aquamarine: I WANT you to stop wasting all of our time at the Academy and just flunk out already. ~♪
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
Ceci of Aquamarine: After all, everyone knows you're only there because your sister's an Emerald.
Hohoho ~♪
How sad is that? The prodigy's own twin sister, stuck with a BABY'S moonstone focus. ~♪
Students are supposed to graduate past Moonstone to their own Glyphstone in the first year, you know ~♪
How many times have you failed your Trial?
Three times? Four?
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
Ceci of Aquamarine: Have fun failing in front of everyone again when we land. I know I'M looking forward to it. ~♪
Come on, Farrin. Let's go. ~♪
Ceci walks past Illyia, shoving her out of the way in the process. Illyia turns around, mad, but not saying a word. Farrin goes to follow her, but before exiting, she turns back, as if wanting to say something.
Farrin of Amethyst: ...
Farrin leaves, leaving Illyia to finally let out her anger, stomping the floor in a rage.
Illyia of Moonstone: Graugh!! What a friggin'... jerk!
Illyia stops stomping the floor.
I can't even punch her right in her stupid face, or the headmaster will call me to his office again...
Ugh... what's her problem, anyway... ?

A Training Session

Illyia goes down to the cargo hold, where Lilly is waiting for her.
Lilly of Emerald: Illyia! There you are!
Come on, I set everything up for you!
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
Lilly of Emerald: Wait, what's wrong? Your eyes are red. Did something happen?
Illyia of Moonstone: Whatever -- it's nothing
It was definitely something.
Come on, let's do this.
Lilly of Emerald: ...
That's the spirit! Hop down, I'll coach you from up here, alright?
Illyia hops down to face her first foe: A training dummy!
Lilly of Emerald: Okay, now let's warm up with your sword rune. Go on, give mister dummy a smack!
Illyia of Moonstone: Wait, you named it...?
Illyia strikes the dummy. After 15 hits, Lilly moves to the next lesson.'
Lilly of Emerald: Nice! Great form as always!
Lilly pulls out a brown book.
Oh! Here, how about this?
Your Riposte stance? Have you been working on it?
Illyia of Moonstone: I guess?
Lilly of Emerald: Uhm, okay! How about you pretend Mister Dummy is your opponent...
... and dodge his hits!
Lilly activates the dummy, making it swing its sword forward at 3-second intervals.
Illyia of Moonstone: Whoa!
Lilly, this thing can MOVE, now?! You made it move!?
Lilly of Emerald: Heh! Pretty good, right?! I was working on him all night!
Try to dodge his hits, and then counter with a Riposte! You can do it!
Illyia dodges through Mister Dummy's attacks, and counters with her own. After two Ripostes, Lilly moves to the next lesson.
That's amazing! You've gotten so good at this, Illyia!
Okay, now let's try using your Runic to get your Second Wind!
Illyia appears nervous.
Illyia of Moonstone: Now you want this thing to hit me?
Lilly of Emerald: He won't hurt you, I promise! It's just for practice!
Illyia of Moonstone: Eugh. You say that, but...z
Illyia gets hit by the dummy multiple times, and recovers with a jump. After two activations of Second Wind. Lilly moves on to the next lesson.
Lilly of Emerald: Perfect, you got it! Use your Runic to push yourself back to your feet!
Lilly opens her book again.
Uhm, let's see here.. what else can we try...
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
No more baby stuff. Let's go straight to it. The aptitude test.
Lilly of Emerald: Huh? Really?
Well, if you think you're ready to give it another try, then let's do it.
Okay. Now remember! Close your eyes and hold your Glyphstone tight.
Lilly closes her eyes, holding her Emerald Glyphstone in her hand. The emerald begins to sparkle with power.
Then let the shape of the Runic flood your mind.
Picture the rune etched on your Moonstone.
Let it become the single focus of your thoughts.
Let the Runic draw the raw power from your Moonstone...
Lilly releases the power, forming the Emerald Glyph above her hand.
And.. release it all, in a single instant!
Now, you try. You can do it this time, I can feel it!
Illyia attempts to summon her Runic, but the stone blows up in her hand, sending her back into Mister Dummy, much to Lilly's immediate concern.
Illyia!!
Lilly hops down and walks over to Illyia, who has a few bruises from flying so hard into Mister Dummy.
Illyia of Moonstone: O-ouch...
Lilly of Emerald: Illyia! Are you okay!? Hold still, let me heal you!
Lilly focuses her magic into healing Illyia, while Illyia looks on, dismayed by her failure.
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
This is so pointless.
Lilly finishes her healing runic.
Lilly of Emerald: No, no, don't say that! Come on, we'll try it again, Illy!
You were so close, I just know it!
Illyia shakes her head.
Illyia of Moonstone: No! Don;t you get it!?
Of course it's easy for you, Lilly! You're an EMERALD! There's literally nobody better at it than you!
But me?
I'm just going to be stuck with this stupid Moonstone forever.
So I should just get used to it.
Lilly of Emerald: Your sword conjures-
Illyia of Moonstone:--are USELESS! They're the ONLY thing I can do right.
How is THAT supposed help me pass my Trial
Lilly of Emerald: ...
(sigh)...
A- alright. That's enough practice for now. Let's try again after dinner, okay?
Illyia of Moonstone: ... okay.
... thanks...
... for helping me practice.
Lilly of Emerald: Pssh, Illy. That's what sisters are for, right?

An Unexpected Interruption

A flash appears on the screen, and a crack is heard, freaking both of the sisters out.
Whoa! What was that?
Did we get hit by lightning?
After a flash, an Elite Sentinel busts through the wall behind Illyia. Both Illyia and Lilly jump back, surprised and scared.
Illyia of Moonstone: What the hells is THAT!?
Lilly of Emerald: Illyia, w- what do we do!? L- let's get an adult!!
Illyia swallows her fear, pulls out her Sword Runic, and gets ready for a fight.
Illyia of Moonstone: Get back, Lilly!! I've got this!
Lilly of Emerald: I- Illyia!!
Illyia fights the Sentinel, dodging through its attacks, and gaining Lilly's assistance as needed. After much fighting, the Sentinel stops, its eye glowing a bright white.
Illyia of Moonstone: Is... is it dead?
The Sentinel begins to self-destruct, much to Lilly's concern.
Lilly of Emerald: Illy, stop! Get back!
The Sentinel fully detonates, blowing the airship in half. Illyia is left hanging onto the edge of the remains, while Lilly tries to reach out for her.
Illyia! Hold on!!
Illyia of Moonstone: H-help!
Lilly of Emerald: Give me your hand!
The boxes behind Lilly start falling towards her.
Illyia of Moonstone: Lilly... boxes... behind you!!
Lilly looks behind her, sees the boxes, and starts to panic.
Lilly of Emerald: Huh!?
The boxes continue to fall, eventually pushing Lilly off of the airship into the great unknown.
Illyia of Moonstone: LILLY!
Illyia falls off the airship herself, and we see her falling back through the stars, and through her own memory.
Lilly...
A memory is shown, with Lilly and Illiya walking alongside each other.
That's right. It's always been like that, hasn't it?
I'm worthless. Even though we're twins, I'll never have even a fraction of Lilly's talent.
In the memory, Illyia falls over, and Lilly instantly begins to heal her.
But... Lilly never cared, did she?
In the memory, Lilly finishes healing Illyia, but still looks scared.
Every time I fell, she would help pull me back up.
In the memory, Lilly is shown crying, and Illyia is surprised.
Even though I was the one who fell, she would be the one who cried about it.
I didn't get it... what was her deal...?
My crybaby sister...
The memory fades, and as Illyia falls into the unknown, the title of the game is shown unto us: Rune Fencer Illyia.

Hero's Grave

Illyia wakes amongst the cargo of the now-broken Airship, dazed and confused.
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
Lilly...?
Illyia gets up, and is shocked, looking around in a panic.
The ship! Where's... where's the airship?! What IS this place
Lilly! Lilly!?
Where are you!?
Illyia stops looking around.
Lilly... I have to find Lilly.
Thus, the adventure begins, with Illyia holding nothing more than a Moonstone Bracelet and a Small Wallet, ready to venture into an unknown realm to find her sister, whatever it takes.

Finding the Bracelet

After venturing for a moment, Illyia spots a small glint, shining in the grass.
Wait, is that...
She walks over to it, and kneels down to inspect it.
It's Lilly's EMERALD BRACELET!
Illyia gets up and starts looking around.
Lilly!? Are you here!?
Are you hurt!? LILLYYYYY!!!
She kneels down again.
...
This is bad. What should I do? If Lilly is hurt, then...
Illyia picks up the Emerald Bracelet, which heals her on contact, much to her shock.
Huh!? What the-!?
It... it HEALED me?
That can't be possible... Lilly isn't even here!
A short tutorial explaining how to use the Emerald Bracelet is shown, and Illyia continues forth from there.

Divine Mark

After some exploration, Illyia finds a gate, with two small skullheaded pillars guarding the entrance. Since she took some damage on the way in, the skulls light red, and the door opens. As she goes in, she notices the skulls and candles, all centered around a single sarcophagus. She goes to inspect the sarcophagus, but the candles all turn red, and a large skull lights in the background.
???: Another one branded by that Goddess.
Acting the servant for a shadow.
Only through pain art we truly cleansed. Only in our suffering art we truly free...
Come. I giveth thee a brand most holy.
Thy journey will be painful, and divine. Doth thee accept this honor?
Bulwark thy resolve. There will be no other chances for thee to accept mine gift.
Yes/No
If Yes:
Good...thou art virtuous.
The mark glows above the sarcophagus, and is burnt into Illyia, causing her to clutch her arm in pain
Illyia: O- ow..>!! That... hurts! It hurts!
The mark disappears, and the player is given the Mark of Pain.
???: Now... begone.
The candles return to their orange glow, and the skull sleeps again.
Illyia: What in the...
If No:
Then begone. Do not return, pretender.
The candles return to their orange glow, and the skull sleeps again.
Illyia: What in the...

Beholding the Goddess

After opening the slime gate, Illyia finds herself standing in front of a statue.

Illyia of Moonstone: Huh? That's a statue of The Blue Lady, the patron Goddess of Runic.
I don't know what it's doing here, but...
Somehow, it does make me feel a bit safer.
Maybe I'll offer a quick prayer...
A short tutorial is shown to us, telling us that we can pray at shrines to recover health, eat food, and equip Memory Stones

Fighting the Overgrown Sentinel

After exploring a bit further, finding another Statue of the Goddess, and a strange, purple crystal that she can't interact with right now, she descends into what seems to be a small arena. Skeletons can be found on either side, and a shatter, yellow crystal is found in the center.
Illyia of Moonstone: What is this?
Have I seen this before? It seems... familiar.
The gates shut, and an Overgrown Guardian descends from the ceiling, surprising Illyia.
Gyah!
It- it's like the thing on the airship! They're here too!?
Illyia pulls out her sword, ready to fight.
What did you do with Lilly!?
The Sentinel screeches at Illyia.
Well, if it's a fight you want...
Then it's a fight you'll get! Bring it on!
The fight begins, with Illyia dodging and slashing at the Sentinel, while the Sentinel fires beams of energy at Illyia.
If Illyia dies before beating the Sentinel, upon re-entering the arena, the gates shut, the Sentinel drops, then screeches, while Illyia pulls out her sword, skipping the dialogue.
Upon defeating the Overgrown Sentinel, it explodes, and a rune forms in the center of the arena. Upon inspecting the crystal, voices surround it.
???: She approaches, just as hoped
One of Inheritance, one of Glyph
Such power, such potential she contains...
Illyia draws her sword, uncertain and panicked.
Illyia of Moonstone: Who is that!? Who- who's talking!?
C'mon! Show yourself!
???: We are One of many
A single piece
Yes, to protect Ithos in slumber
We were created...
The Forever King has failed us
Failed the Kingdom
Failed to end the Blight
Illyia of Moonstone: What're you talking about!?
???: Power, we shall grant thee.
The crystal reforms, and yellow energy swirls around Illyia, lifting her into the air, much to her shock.
Illyia of Moonstone: Waugh!
The energy drops her to the floor, then dissapates.
... ugh...
What...
Illyia gets back up.
What was that?
???: We have unlocked your potential, Illyia of Moonstone
The White Runic is thine power to wield.
Find the others
Seek the Forever King atop his Citadel
End the Blight
Prove your worth
She must be... destroyed.
The voices vanish, leaving Illyia alone once more.
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
The gates re-open, and a short tutorial on how to use the Energy Strike to send objects flying is shown.

Finding a Skeleton

After going a bit farther, Illyia finds a Revenant Wanderer, and hides behind the nearby wall
Illyia of Moonstone: Gah!! That's a Revenant!
These weird machines, and now the undead?
Okay! Okay. Whew... Stay calm. Just remember your training...
A short tutorial on how to use the Energy Strike to take opponent's Runes is shown.

A Well-Deserved Jumpscare

After going even further, finding another Statue of the Goddess, and solving a few puzzles, Illyia breaks a wall open, jumpscaring Ceci.
Ceci of Aquamarine: Gyahh!!
Moony!?
Goddess, you scared the heck out of me!
Where did you even COME from? You busted through the WALL? Utterly ridiculous!
You- you're lucky I didn't take your head off, you moron!
Illyia of Moonstone: Ceci, what are YOU doing here?
Ceci of Aquamarine: What do you THINK?! ~♪
You think I'm here because I WANT to be here, you idiot!? I don't even know where HERE is!
And I don't know if you've NOTICED, but there are SKELETONS wandering around!
Ceci turns away from Illyia, tears in her eyes.
... and .. and I can't find-
She wipes away the tears, and turns back to Illyia.
W- whatever!! Look. Have you... seen Farrin?
    I haven't seen them.
Illyia of Moonstone: No. Have you seen Lilly?
Ceci of Aquamarine: Who, your SISTER? No offense, but she's an Emerald. She'll be able to handle herself better than WE can out here.
(Lie) I think I saw them back the way I came.
Ceci looks surprised.
Ceci of Aquamarine: W-what!? Really?
And you didn't STOP them, or anything!? Moony, you idiot!
Farrin needs my help! They could be hurt, or WORSE! I need to hurry!
Illyia of Moonstone: What about Lilly? Have you seen Lilly?
Ceci of Aquamarine: ...No, I haven't. Although if I'm honest, your sister's an Emerald. She'll be able to handle herself better than we can out here.
I'm... sure she's fine.
In both cases:
ANYWAY, listen Moony. If you see Farrin...
Tell them to meet me at the big Shrine in the center of the island.
Okay? Are you listening? If you keep heading down this mountain, you'll see it. It seems safe.
Illyia of Moonstone: Wait, shouldn't we stick together?
Ceci of Aquamarine: Please, I don't have time to babysit some Moonstone. This place is scary enough as it is. Go find a place to hide, if you have to.
Illyia of Moonstone: ... fine. But if you see Lilly, tell her the same thing. The Shrine at the center of the island.
Ceci of Aquamarine: Deal. I'll look around in here. At least it's warmer than out there.
Ceci walks a few steps, then stops.
...
Ceci turns back around.
Ugh. I can't believe I'm doing this, but...
Here. Take this.
Ceci tosses Illyia an Elixer Bottle
Illyia of Moonstone: A... bottle?
Ceci laughs.
Ceci of Aquamarine: Wow, very good, Moony! A bottle!
Of course it's a bottle, you moron! An ALCHEMY bottle.
You DO remember how to use them, right?
Illyia of Moonstone: I - uh...
Ceci of Aquamarine: Seriously, Moony...? How useless can you be?
You use it to brew ELIXERS, okay? It's designed to auto-distill reagents with any glyphic dew you find.
Ceci turns around again.
And don't get the wrong idea, either! I just don't have the room to carry it with me, okay?
    If you lied about Farrin:
 And uh... Moony.
Thanks for telling me about Farrin.
In both cases:
See you around, Moony. Don't die on me. ~♪
Ceci walks away again, leaving Illyia alone. A short tutorial on how to brew and use Elixers is shown.

An Unfortunate Travel

After traversing through the Freezing Spire, facing down against many skeletons, and opening a gate along the way, Illyia finds another elevator, leading into Central Shrine. She hops on, but after descending a few feet, the elevator starts creaking.
Illyia of Moonstone: ..?!
The elevator chain snaps, leaving Illyia, and the elevator, plunging to the bottom. Flash to black.
Green lights are shown ascending to the sky. A voice is heard.
Illyia...
Are you there?
Please...
... help... me...
The ascending lights turn red, and begin to descend, as another voice overrides the first.
If you weren't such a failure, Lilly would still be here.
She should be here instead of you.
Illyia awakes besides the broken elevator, within the bounds of the Central Shrine.

Central Shrine

The People of Central Shrine

Arlan the Blacksmith

Upon freeing Arlan:
Arlan: Ugh...
Illyia is surprised, considering there was a person inside an opaque crystal.
Illyia of Moonstone: Whoa! There was a PERSON in ther!? Are you okay!?
Arlan: Where am I? Did you...
I'm still alive? How long have I been stuck in there...?
The undead with the long sword attacked me. I just barely managed to crawl back here and hide
I never want to experience that again. I don't know how you did it, but thanks for helping me out.
You're a new arrival, yeah? I'm Arlan. I work the Smithy inside of the Shrine, most of the time.
Mostly because there's nothing else to do in this damn place. Come and visit me sometime, yeah?
Arlan walks off to the Smithy, leaving Illyia alone.
Talking with Arlan:
    First Dialogue:
Arlan: Hey, kid.
Thanks for gettin' me out of that bind.
You're new here, or at least I haven't seen you before. Guessin' you have questions.
Well, there ain't much to say. Used to be a blacksmith in Centralia. Then after I got bored of that, I became an apprentice to a master Artificer, thought it might be more interesting.
I booked a ship south to Teozia to get some ore for a job we were doing, got in a storm, and crashed here. Been here ever since.
I imagine your story ain't much different.
Illyia: Yeah, I guess it isn't.
Arlan: Well, if you need anything else, you know where to find me. Not like I can go anywhere else.
    Second Dialogue:
Arlan: Hey, kid.
Good seein' you again. You wanna chat?
Illyia: Hey, Arlan. What do you think this place is?
Arlan: What, the island?
Hells is anyone knows for sure. The Priestess out there seems convinced that we're trapped in the "Kingdom of Ithos." You know, the mythical one.
be true. I don't know. Ain't really the bookish type.
All I know for sure is that if you wander too far away from this shrine, the Blight takes hold.
And that's if the undead don't get you first. Used to be able to wander further out...
You got Runist blood in you, kid. It doesn't seem to affect Runists much, just normal folk.
Illyia: Normal, huh...
Thanks, Arlan.
    Third Dialogue/Default:
Arlan: Hey, kid.
Wish I had some kind of project to work on.
You, us, want a sword? I can make you a good one.
Illyia: I've already got one! And it's, like, magic!
Arlan: Come on, throw me a bone, kid! I'm dyin' of boredom over here.

The Disciple of Blue

Upon approaching the Disciple of Blue
Disciple of Blue: Oh...
The disciple bows her head to Illyia.
Welcome.
I am the... caretaker of this abandoned shrine.
The disciple lifts her head.
Are you lost, child?
Illyia of Moonstone: I... well, a little...
I'm looking for my sister. She has red hair, like mine. Have you seen her?
Disciple of Blue: Forgive me child. I have not. We have not had new visitors here in some time
Illyia of Moonstone: And where IS here, exactly?
Disciple of Blue: You have arrived to the last refuge of the sunken Kingdom of Ithos.
Illyia of Moonstone: Huh? What do you mean?
Look, we were on an airship, and-
Disciple of Blue: All those who arrive here come not by choice, but by an act of the Goddess.
I too, arrived here long ago. I believe that the Goddess willed it, to have somebody watch over Her shrine in this cursed place.
I see the Moonstone you grasp so tightly, child.
You are a Runist, aren't you? Blessed by the Blue Lady herself.
A terrible Blight poisons the land, as you have surely already seen.
Those with Her blessing of Runic can withstand the Blight, but within these walls... those without Her gift can live in peace.
I know you will leave soon, for your own reasons. Just like all the rest...
Take this. I hope it helps you find your sister, child.
The disciple gives Illyia a Map of Central Shrine.
Illyia of Moonstone: T- thanks.
Disciple of Blue: I hesitate to tell you, but...
Seek the great temple to the east, across the bridge.
The bridge is guarded well, by a knight of the Kingdom. You must be careful.
Perhaps you will find your way back to your sister, in the end. I pray that you do.
Return here for shelter, should you need it. I will be here. As always...
Moonlight guide you, child.

If Acrian is saved & this dialogue hasn't been accessed yet:
Disciple of Blue: Was it you? Did you find Arlan?
Thank you for helping him. He doesn't speak much, but the sound of his hammer brings some liveliness to this place.
   Else:
Disciple of Blue: If... you should find anyone in need, please send them to me. I will try my best to accommodate them.
Until they, too, leave me...
(Offer Royal Medallion)
    If Illyia has a Medallion:
Disciple of Blue: Ah... could that be a... a Royal Medallion?
As Priestess of a shrine in the Kingdom of Ithos, I am obliged to grant you a Blessing in exchange for this offering.
What would you ask for, child? Strength? Wisdom?
Blessing of Strength (Raise max Vitality)
Illyia is surrounded by blue lights, and lifted into the air. Once the light dissipates, the text reads: Maximum Vitality increased.
It is done. Moonlight guide you, child.
Blessing of Wisdom (Raise max Glyph)
Illyia is surrounded by blue lights, and lifted into the air. Once the light dissipates, the text reads: Maximum Glyph increased.
It is done. Moonlight guide you, child.
    Never mind
Take your time, child. The Goddess, like the moon, is patient and eternal.
If Illyia does not have a Medallion:
You don't have any Royal Medallions for upgrading maximum Vitality and Glyph.
(Offer Mender Medallion)
    If Illyia has a Medallion:
Disciple of Blue: Oh my... a true Mender's Medallion. They were worn by the first Emeralds of the Kingdom.
Please, allow me to lay it to rest in the waters of the Shrine, under the eyes of the Goddess.
The Chosen of the Goddess were not perfect -- could not be perfect. But nobody deserves to be forgotten.
The following text is shown: Attunement increased by 1.
You've done a great service, child.
The disciple bows her head.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
She lifts her head back up, then turns again to the statue.
    Else:
You don't have any Mender's Medallions for upgrading maximum Attunement.
Never mind (Cancels Dialogue).

Chia & Ratthew

Free Chia from her crystalline prison:
Chia: What in the- !?
Oh! Hello there. Sorry about that. I must have zoned out for a moment.
Illyia of Moonstone: Hi! Yeah, you could say that.
Chia: I'm Chia! Er- Chia of Centralia, that is! And this is my assistant, Ratthew.
Ratthew: *squeeak!*
Chia: I'm an Antiquarian by trade. Antiques, historical items -- all KINDS of stuff!
We've been using that little room in the Central Shrine's library as our base, for now.
Ratthew and I ventured down here to see if we could find anything interesting, but well -- I guess it's a little more dangerous than we thought, isn't it?
If you ever come across something mysterious, please let me know! We'd LOVE to look at it, okay?
See ya later!
The screen fades to black, and both Chia and Ratthew disappear into their study.

Wanderer Lithise

Speak with Wanderer Lithise
    First Dialogue:
Wanderer Lithise: Ah. Hello, there.
Another new arrival to the island? How interesting.
I am called Lithise. I visit the shrine, every so often... to check on things.
I've picked up a few oddities, here and there. Perhaps you'd like to trade?
The Shop opens.
Default Dialogue
Wanderer Lithise: Hello again, little Runist.
Care to trade?
The Shop opens.
If a purchase is made:
Wanderer Lithise: Thank you kindly. Be sure to put it to good use.
Else:
No? Maybe next time...if fate permits.
In both cases:
Keep your wits about you, little Runist. The ruins beyond these walls hold only death, for the careless.

Shelke of Malachite

Interact with Shelke of Malachite:
   First Dialogue:
Shelke of Malachite: Oh, hello again. You came to visit me, after all.
Illyia is surprised.
Illyia of Moonstone: Huh? Us, sorry. You've got the wrong person.
Shelke of Malachite: Hm...
I suppose that could be true, in a way.
I am Shelke.
Shelke of... Malachite, if you wish.
Illyia of Moonstone: I'm Illyia of Moonstone.
Shelke of Malachite: Illyia... what a beautiful name. I've not heard it before. Or have I?
I came to this place in search of something, Illyia... and I believe I've found it.
Illyia of Moonstone: You were looking for THIS thing? What is it?
Shelke of Malachite: Well... I suppose you could call me a... healer, of sorts?
I think we can use this machine to guide any lingering Echoes, and... heal them.
Illyia of Moonstone: Echoes?
Shelke of Malachite: Echoes are... fragmented memories of those trapped between the veil.
If you shatter them, you can break free the chains binding them to this realm.
You've noticed it too, haven't you? This whole island is... strange.
Time and space flows erratically here. And these poor souls, they get... tangled within. Like a fish, struggling to break free of a fishing net.
I don't think I'll be venturing out again, not for a while. I would like to inspect this... machine, although it seems workable for my purposes.
If you find any Echo Fragments, please bring them to me. We can ease their suffering and finally lay them to rest.
Illyia nods emphatically.
Illyia of Moonstone: Echo Fragments... got it!! I'll do my best!
Default Dialogue:
If Illyia has not found any Echo Fragments:
Shelke of Malachite: I don't think I'll be venturing out again, not for a while.
If Illyia has found a few Echo Fragments already:
Shelke of Malachite: You've already found a few Echo Fragments, I see.
This is wonderful... these poor souls have been chained here for so long.
Please, continue searching. Perhaps... together, we can finally lay this cursed place to rest.
If Illyia has died, and has not recovered her Echo:
Shelke notices something off about Illyia.
Oh... you seem... distant, Illyia of Moonstone. Fragmented... as if you could not cast a shadow if you stood in the sun.
Yes. There is an Echo, chaining you down to this island.
Perhaps... I could aid you?
If you have an Echo Blossom, a flower most rare... I could perhaps bind your Echo back to this world.
Would... you like to try?
    Yes(Requires Echo Blossom)
How wonderful...
This flower feels like it transcends space and time itself.
Shelke casts a spell, which brings your echo back to you, giving you one Crystal Heart and your lost money.
It is done, Illyia of Moonstone. You look whole once more.
Thank goodness...
    No
No? Then I hope you find yourself once more, Illyia of Moonstone...

If Illyia holds the Echo Blossom:
Shelke gasps.
Shelke of Malachite: Oh...! That flower you hold...
Could that be an Echo Blossom? Please, could I -- could I hold it?
Illyia of Moonstone: Uhm, sure.
Illyia gives the Echo Blossom to Shelke, who cups it in her hands.
Shelke of Malachite: T- thank you, Illyia of Moonstone.
Illyia of Moonstone: Are these flowers special or something?
Shelke of Malachite: There are very special. A miracle of the Echo, long lost.
Shelke smells the flower.
I... never thought I would see, nor smell this flower ever again.
Of course they would be here. Why didn't I realize...?
Shelke puts the flower away.
Please... take care of this flower, and any others you find. They are truly precious.

Master Renauldin, of the Knights of Pinion

Release the knight from his crystal:
The knight pulls out his halberd, pointing it at Illyia.
Ha! I'll teach YOU to sneak up on a knight, you craven coward!
Illyia of Moonstone: Hey, watch that thing! You almost cut my HEAD off!!
Master Renauldin: Eh? Who are you, lass?
Illyia of Moonstone: I'm Illyia of Moonstone! I SAVED you!
Master Renauldin: You've... freed me...?
The knight pulls his halberd back.
Blessed Moon almighty, how long have I BEEN in that wretched crystal
Thank you for your aid, lass. I am Master Renauldin of the Knights of Pinion.
Hum hum... this is most troubling. Let us regroup in the Shrine above.
Please, find me there. I wish to thank you properly.
Master Renauldin climbs the rope, leaving Illyia in the well, who is still somewhat irritated at being threatened at halberd-point.
Talking to Master Renauldin:
    First Dialogue:
Master Renauldin: Ah, salutations, young lass! I am just trying to get my bearings after spending so long in that crystal.
Illyia of Moonstone: Okay, but... why in the rain?
Master Renauldin: Fresh air clears the mind, my girl.
I am Master Renauldin, of the Knights of Pinion.
I arrived here at the Kingdom of Ithos at the behest of my King, alongside my comrades.
However, we are not Runists, and so the island's strange curse affected us immediately.
We were separated in the confusion, and I only barely managed to make it to the protection of this shrine.
Or... so I had thought.
Right as I reached the shrine, I was attacked from behind by some shadowy villain. Coward!
If you come across any of my fellow knights of the Pinion, tell them to regroup here!
In exchange, this old head of mine has some combat techniques that you may find useful.
Aye, I've no talent for runic, but swordplay is swordplay! It's all about the fundamentals, my dear girl.
Illyia looks downtrodden.
Ah ha! Don't give me such a sour look. I did promise you a reward, didn't I?
Come, draw your sword! Your training begins now, young Illiya!
Illyia is shocked.
Illyia: Huh? Now?!
The screen fades to black, and Illyia is given some swordsman's training, courtesy of Master Renauldin. We cut back to the two, with Illyia barely standing, hands on her knees.
I'm... so freakin' tired...
Master Renauldin: Aha! Exemplary swordsmanship, lass! Or should I say, squire?
Oho! We'll make a fine knight out of you yet!
A tutorial on how to parry bladed attacks is shown.
Good hunting, my talented squire! Remember your lessons well!
Default Dialogue:

Hook, the Sahagin Fisherman

Talk to Hook:
    First Dialogue:
Hook: Eh?! A human? *squeak!*
Don't scare Hook like that. Humans NOT supposed to be down here! Or Sahagin either!
This is HOOK's secret fishing spot, not theirs! *squeak!*
Default Dialogue:
Hook: NOTHING like fishing! The sound of water! Quiet relaxation! Sudden thrill of catch! *squeak!*
Human! You wanna fish too, right?
Hmm... will let you borrow Hook's fishing pole for... 30 human shinies!
Hook will even pay you for fishies you catch! Good deal!
Sure.
    If Illyia has enough money:
The money is subtracted, and Illyia gets the Sahagin Fishing Rod.
Good deal, good deal! *squeak!* Human loves fishing too, huh? Good fishing!!

If Illyia does not have enough money:
*squeak!* Not enough shinies! Come back when you have more shinies, human!
Nah.
Hook: *squeak!* Come back if you change your mind, human!
Uhm... how do I fish?
Human does not know how to fish!? Hmm... how to explain...
Human takes fishing pole and cast lure into water!
When lure is by fish... WIGGLE pole to get fishie attention! But... do not wiggle TOO MUCH!
Fish will bite, and then...!
A tutorial is shown for how to play the associated fishing minigame, including timings, struggle, and adjustments.
Practice makes perfect. Nobody good from beginning. Just try! *squeak!*
If Illyia has the Sahagin Fishing Rod:
*squeak!* What does human want?
I'm done fishing for now. (Give back fishing rod)
Illyia gives back the Sahagin Fishing Rod.
Hook: Good fishing, human! *squeak!* Visit Hook again, fish again!!
    Nevermind.
Why speak to Hook in first place?? Rude...
Show me the fishing log! (Shows the Fishing Log)
Uhm... how do I fish? (See above dialogue)
If Illyia catches a fish:
    First Catch Dialogue:
Hook: *squeak!* This is the first Insert Fish Here you've caught! Hook will give you 5 Sheko for it!
The 5 Sheko are given to Illyia.
If the fish was a Green Greedie:
Eh? This one had something lodged in its stomach.
One Royal Medallion Shard is given to Illyia.]]
In both cases:
The fish disappears.
If Illyia attempts to run off with the Fishing Rod:
Hook: *squeak!!* Thief! Sneak-thief! Rod-thief! Where do you think you are going!?
Illyia freezes in shock, then walks back to Hook, ashamed.
Hook did not GIVE you fishing rod as GIFT. Please return, yes, THANK YOU.
Illyia gives back the Fishing Rod.

Pubmaster Russel

Talking to Pubmaster Russel:
    First Interaction:
Pubmaster Russel: Hey, kid. New arrival, yeah?
Judgin' by yer clothes, you're a Runist, to. Huh! Lucky you.
Rest of us normal folk are trapped in here. Th' Blight takes you quick, if you ain't a Runist.
Name's Russ. I jus' try to keep folks here from starvin'.
Which ain't so hard, since it's usually jus' me and th' Priestess here and few other stragglers.
Feel free to use th' kitchen if you need somethin' cooked. I'm sure we can make somethin' good outta whatever you find out there.
    Default:
Pubmaster Russel: Hey, kid. What can I get ya?
What ingredients do you have in stock? [SHOP]
        First time:
Fer some coin, I can part with some ingredients.
And before yeh say it, I know, I know. But look, we need coin to haggle with the Sahagin, otherwise we don't got food at all.
Them Beastfolk and you Runists are the only ones who can leave the Shrine grounds, after all...
I can only get what I can from barterin' with them fish folk, so stock's always a bit limited.
        Every time after:
Fer some coin, I can part with some ingredients.
I can only get what I can from barterin' with them fish folk, so stock's always a bit limited.
        Close shop:

    I'm hungry...:
If you have no food on hand:
Pubmaster Russel: Yer hungry? Well, I can't have you starvin' on me, kid!
Here, take this.
Russel gives Illyia 9 Dumplings.
Try to make it last awhile... we ain't got much.
If you have food on hand:
Pubmaster Russel: Yer hungry? You've got food in yer pockets, kid! Eat that first, we can't be picky in a place like this!
But listen. If yeh really ever don't got anything to eat, just come and see me. I'll make you something, okay?
    Any recipe ideas?
Pubmaster Russel: Well, let's see! Lemme think here...
A Giant Omelet might hit the spot. Pretty simple, too.
It's easy, jus' get four Bird Eggs and fry'm up! Of course, if you want, you can add some milk an' salt for taste.
It's a bit on th' heavy side, but then, so am I! Hah!
    Nothin'
Stay safe out there, kid.

Kloh, the Goblinkin

    First Interaction:
Illyia looks surprised. Kloh notices her surprise, and puts on an annoyed face
Kloh: Eh? What're you staring at, kid? Never seen a goblin before?
Illyia: Huh? I- uh... no! I mean - sorry! Not really...!
Kloh: ...
Kloh's face lightens up, while Illyia looks away.
Pfft. Calm down. Just teasin' ya.
Not many goblins wander outside the Greenwood, I guess.
And I can't really blame someone for staring at such a cute gobbie.
I'm Kloh.
Illyia looks up, relieved.
Illyia of Moonstone: Oh! I'm Illyia! Illyia of Moonstone. Nice to meet ya.
Kloh: A Runist, huh? Interesting.
So you're not stuck here. Not really.
I don't think Goblinkin are super affected by the curse or blight or whatever it is all these humans keep blabberin' about.
But... this island definitely has a bad smell about it. I don't like it.
I knew I shouldn't have taken that job...
    Default:
Kloh: Huh? Whadya want?
    [Talk]
Oh, yeah! I was tellin' you earlier. I was hired by a group of humans outta Centralia.
Treasure hunters, they said. More like Graverobbers, but whatever.
Not that I'm judgin' or anything. But humans waste time callin' themselves what they aren't. It's confusing, right?
Anyway, they needed a scout for gettin' in and out of dangerous places for a big job.
I'm really good at it, and my family luck carries the slack.
So we took a ship from Centralia and sailed for a week or two. Ended up here, somehow. Wherever this is.
I scouted out that spooky place for them. I even drew them a map! A proper goblin map!
So honestly, it's not MY fault the idiots didn't read the map correctly.
They got real mad at me about it. Well, that and they caught me cheating at dice. Heheh.
The rest of them tied me up and left me in the camp. Dunno where they went after. Don't really care, either.
    [Play a round of Gobbii]
What, you wanna throw some dice? Hah! Sure, but no cryin' if you lose!
If you have no money to wager:
Wait -- REALLY, kid? You don't even got a SINGLE measly coin? Come back when you got SOMETHING to wager.
        Else:
    The game commences.
        If you wager 150 coins:
Heh! A high stakes game, huh? Let's do it!!
After losing:
Eheh, I win. Wanna play another round?
Wanna play another rond!?
Sure
If you have at least 1 coin to wager:
That's what I'm talking about! Let's go!!
If you have no money to wager:
Wait -- REALLY, kid? You don't even got a SINGLE measly coin? Come back when you got SOMETHING to wager.
Nah
Pah, no fun.
    [How do I play?]
What, you don't know how to play Gobbii? Ya serious?
You and I both throw dice. Beat my score and get as close as you can to 21 without going over, and you win.
Easy, right?
There's uhh... some OTHER rules too. But don't worry about that. Not yet. Eheh...
    Nevermind.
Fine, have it your way.

MiMi the Treasure Hunter

Talking to Mimi:
    First Encounter:
Illyia of Moonstone: Some kind of weird chest? I can't open it...
Maybe I can force it open, somehow.
First Interaction (Hitting it outside of the Sanctuary, right before the Queensknight:
Ack!
The screen fades to black, and when we cut back to Illyia, the chest is stood upright, with a small sword and shield to accompany it.
???: Uhm, stop that, please!!
Illyia looks shocked.
Illyia of Moonstone: A mimic?!
???: Hmph! I'm no mimic! I'm a TREASURE HUNTER!
And I have a name too, you know!!
MiMi: It's MiMi the Treasure Hunter! D- don't you forget it!
MiMi gets ready to fight, albeit shakily.
E- en garde!
Illyia of Moonstone: Hey, sheesh, calm down! Sorry. I've just never met a mim- er... treasure hunter before.
The shock dissipates from Illyia's face, and MiMi appears shocked.
MiMi: Oh...!
You mean... you're NOT going to attack me?
MiMi relaxes.
Oh gosh. Whew. I thought I was a goner for sure.
Humans are always trying to get me.
I live in a chest, but it's my HOME, y'know? I'm the treasure!
And n- no offense, but I don't even LIKE eating humans. Blech.
Illyia of Moonstone: That's good, but... what're you doing here, exactly?
MiMi: Oh! Well -- I was just trying to figure that part out, actually!
See, I was taking a little nap in that Shrine, I think. But something wake me up. And I realized the coins I had saved for snacking were gone!
Uhm, then I found this sword and shield nearby, and I realized...
...that I must be on a quest, of course!
Somewhere on this island is a huge vault filled with tasty treasure, and I'M gonna find it!
If the Queensknight was not defeated prior to waking up MiMi:
I was just about to walk across the bridge to the big garden place, but --
I turned around because there's a big scary knight just STANDING there!
I'd go talk to her, but erm- she might by frightened by my appearance, you know?
Oh... what to do... what to do...?
If the Queensknight was defeated prior to waking up MiMi:
I was just about to walk across the bridge to the big garden place, but -- it looks sort of dangerous... doesn't it?
Have you been inside it? There's nothing...nothing scary, right?
Well, whatever! I'll find my way through!!
I'll see you around, hu- I mean, Illyia of Moonstone!
    Default:
This places seems a little different than I remember...
How long was I sleeping for, I wonder?
If the Queensknight was defeated after waking up MiMi:
Eh? You talked to that huge scary knight? She's gone?
MiMi looks surprised.
W- wow! You're really good at talking, huh?! Time to continue my quest, then!
I'll see you around, hu- I mean, Illyia of Moonstone!

The Queensknight

Upon first approaching the Queensknight:
Queensknight: You.
Go back whence you came. Stay within your sanctuary, if you value your mortality.
Illyia of Moonstone: So, you're the guard they were talking about. I need to get across.
I only want to find my sister. Can't you just let me by?
A barrier forms around the arena, and the Queensknight gets ready to fight.
Queensknight: This is your final warning. You will not... cannot... approach Her Highness.
Illyia of Moonstone: Sorry. I'm getting through, no matter what.
The battle commences.
If defeated, and you approach the Queensknight again:
Queensknight: This is your final warning. You will not... cannot... approach Her Highness.
Illyia of Moonstone: Let's try that one more time.
Upon defeating the Queensknight:
The knight collapses to her knees, and starts blinking blue.
My Queen... Help me... I-I don't want to...
The knight dissipates, and the barrier is removed, allowing Illyia to pass through to Raindrop Sanctuary...if she's got the items ready.

Raindrop Sanctuary

Eye of Null

First Approach:
Illyia sees a figure that looks exactly like herself. She draws her sword, confused, but wanting answers.
Illyia of Moonstone: W-what the!?
What approaches me?
The figure turns to Illyia.
Hm. This form is not the one. No, it is puny, weak.
Illyia of Moonstone: You're not me. What are you?!
The figure begins to walk through Illyia's mind, and transforms into Lilly.
What am I? That is the question, yes.
The figure transforms into Solina, and Illyia falls to her knees, shaking her head, as if trying to make the figure stop.
Ah... but this form... has seen many different forms.
Illyia of Moonstone: Ow! Stop it!
The figure transforms into its true form: An eldritch orb of darkness, with three eyes adorning a singular eye on its center. Light and dark shift and spiral around it, as it watches Illyia intently.
It has seen much. Will see much. I could use one such as it.
Illyia gets up, and bends over, hands on her knees, as she tries to recover.
It wanders outside these walls. Where I cannot go.
NULL: I am NULL. It will be my servent henceforth. But worry not... servants are rewarded.
Fine.
NULL: Good. It will take this on its travels.
NULL gives Illyia the Eye of Null.
Illyia of Moonstone: Ugh. Is this an... eyeball!?
NULL: Go out into the world. Observe more forms.
Let me see how they move. How they think. How they writhe and perish.
Return to me when you have found many forms.
Then, perhaps, I will find the form that matches me.
No way!
Illyia of Moonstone: Yeah, I think I'll pass on being a servant to some weird shadow monster that steals my thoughts.
And you called me stupid, too!
NULL: Regrettable. Foolish. So be it.
Upon reapproaching NULL:
If the offer was not accepted:
NULL: The weak form has returned. Perhaps it has reconsidered?
The offer is re-offered, with the same dialogue options and answers.
    If the offer was accepted:
If Illyia has killed many monsters:
NULL: It has witnessed many shapes, this servant. But its task is far from over.
It must use the eye I have provided. It will show me the forms of light and shadow that wander this land.
I need more. Want more. It must continue its search.

Solina & Co.

Upon first approaching Solina & her guard:
Illyia appears to have stumbled in on a conversation between a woman and her guard, which she is not supposed to be involved in. She stands at a distance, surprised.
???: Ugh! That idiot. What is he thinking, running off alone like that?
If he gets himself killed...
???: Don't fret, my Lady. We'll catch up with him eventually. In the meantime, let us head towards shelter.
???: Yes, I think-
The woman notices Illyia, and draws her sword.
Wait! Who is that?
The knight turns around to face Illyia, and after some time, Illyia processes that they're talking about her.
Illyia of Moonstone: Huh? What?
???: Eh? It's just a... girl?
???: Not just a girl. A Runist. She is clearly not affected by the Blight, my Lady.
???: Hrm. You're right, Izusa.
You there! The Sunken Kingdom of Ithos isn't a place just anyone can find. Who are you?
Illyia draws her sword, ready for a fight.
Illyia of Moonstone: Huh!?
???: Heh! A fellow adept of the blade, are you?
So. You're the one who has been sent to kill me?
Illyia of Moonstone: Kill you? What're you talking about?! You took out your sword first!
I'm just looking for my twin sister. I don't know what your whole deal is.
???: Twin? You have a twin?
Illyia of Moonstone: Her name is Lilly of Emerald. She has red hair like mine. Why? Have you seen her?!
???: Lilly of Emerald...
Izusa: It could be a ruse, my Lady.
Illyia of Moonstone: Hey, what gives!? I'm telling the truth!!
???: ...
The woman sheathes her sword in a flash.
No. She's not lying.
Her sword stance is all wrong. A true assassin would not be so... lacking.
We travel with an abundance of caution. I apologize for our rashness.
Illyia of Moonstone: Yeah, that was pretty rude. So who ARE you, anyway?
Solina: I am Pr-... You may call me Solina.
I am a pilgrim on the Emerald Path, visiting every shrine dedicated to the first Emerald, Saint Sumia.
Were you and your Emerald Sister on the pilgrimage as well?
Illyia sheathes her sword.
Illyia of Moonstone: I'm... Illyia of Moonstone.
No, we weren't doing anything like that. I don't even know how I got here.
Izusa: Hrm. Well, if you were trying to find your way into the Citadel, you're out of luck. It's been completely sealed off.
The camera pans to the Citadel, as well as the runic gate blocking the entrance.
Illyia of Moonstone: Citadel? What Citadel?
Solina: Seat of the Ithosian Kingdom, and the Forever King.
You really have no idea where you are, do you?
The camera pans back to Illyia, Izusa, and Solina.
Well, Runist or not, it isn't safe for somebody like you to wander these ruins alone.
Come. We seek shelter at the center of the island.
Izusa: My Lady... we don't have time fo-
Illyia of Moonstone: No thanks. I can handle myself. I need to keep looking for my sister.
Solina: Oh. I see.
Well, have it your way, then.
Izusa: Now, if that is all. Please back away, Illyia of Moonstone, and allow us to pass.
Illyia of Moonstone: What do you mea-
Izusa: I made it quite clear. Please move aside a safe distance, and do not test me.
Solina and Izusa move onward to the center of the island, leaving Illyia stood at the Sanctuary.
Illyia of Moonstone: Man... what's up with them...?
Upon moving forward, a rip in time manifests before the path to the rest of Raindrop Sanctuary. When interacting with this rip, the following dialogue is shown:
A mysterious, unstable rip in the Echo has opened here.
An anomaly that can transport you to a specific time in the near future. It may be dangerous.
Enter the Echo?
Yes
Illyia is transported to an unknown place, where Solina awaits her.
No
    Dialogue is canceled.

Flash-Forward Solina

Upon first approaching Solina:
Solina: I cannot believe I have to wait down here, like some sort of helpless child.
I'm more than capable...
Illyia of Moonstone: Hey! Solina, right?
Solina whips out her sword and spins around, catching Illyia off-guard.
Solina: Huh!?
A pause.
Oh. It's you, Illyia of Moonstone.
Solina sheathes her sword.
Illyia of Moonstone: Are you... stuck here? Do you need help?
Solina: Of all th- no! Do I LOOK like I need help!?
Illyia of Moonstone: Well, sort of...
Solina: Izusa merely went to scout ahead while I tend to the shrine and... guard the entrance.
I... I do NOT need help.
If anything, you should be asking ME for help!
Illyia of Moonstone: Uh -- okay...
Solina: But I'll tell you what, Illyia of Moonstone. You obviously know how to handle a runeblade, right?
I'm bored, and if you can best me in a little sparring match...
A barrier forms around the arena, and Solina whips out her sword.
Then you're strong enough to climb the rest of this lighthouse.
Illyia of Moonstone: You wanna FIGHT me?
Solina: Come on, just a little spar. Don't be a coward! I'll even go easy on you!
Heh! This... will be fun.
The battle commences, with Solina slashing and weaving her way through the arena while Illyia dodges through (most of) her attacks.
Upon your first death:
Solina: Hrm. Not terrible, but your footwork needs a lot of work. Who taught you?
Illyia of Moonstone: Nobody. My sister, I guess.
Solina: You have no formal training? Well, it clearly shows.
In any case, you're not getting past me until you can best me in a spar.
After the first death:
Solina turns around and whips out her sword.
Solina: Back for another try, Illyia of Moonstone?
Fine. But I'll not go too easy on you!
Heh! This... will be fun.
After being beaten by Solina again:
Solina: Not bad, but there's no getting past me, Illyia of Moonstone.
Solina sheathes her blade, and Illyia steps back to heal.
Upon defeating Solina:
Solina: Tch... not bad.
You're strangely strong, for such a scrawny-looking kid.
Illyia of Moonstone: I'm not a kid, I'm practically fifteen!
Solina: Really? Huh. I'd heard Revalians are a bit short, but...
Illyia is annoyed.
Illyia of Moonstone: Yea, well, you're old. And maybe you're just freakishly tall.
Solina: I- I'm just a few years older than you are. and I - my height is... perfectly normal!
Anyway! As I was saying. You completely lack any finesse or grace with your blade.
You're simply bashing your way through, using your blade like a crude club. It's disrespectful to the art of swordplay.
Illyia of Moonstone: It worked on you, didn't it?
Solina: It wont't work next time, is what I'm saying. I went easy on you.
A pause.
(Sigh)
Another pause.
Illyia of Moonstone: You're not hurt, are you?
Solina: ...merely a scrape. Pay it no mind. I'm just tired.
Illyia of Moonstone: Here, let me see if I can help.
Illyia approaches Solina, and attempts to use the Emerald Bracelet to heal her.
Solina: What the-!?
Solina jumps back, sword in hand, while Illyia's irritated.
Get the hell away from me! You- what were you trying to do to me!?
Illyia of Moonstone: Ow! What's your issue!? I'm TRYING to see if I can heal you!
Solina: You are NOT an Emerald. How could you possibly...
Solina swipes the bracelet, and Illyia is even more mad than before.
Illyia of Moonstone: Hey!! G- give that BACK! That's mine!
Solina: This Emerald, it's real? You're using it, somehow?
Solina attempts to use the Emerald, but it fizzles out, much to her annoyance.
...tch! Nothing.
What am I thinking? Of course I can't.
A pause, then Solina turns to Illyia.
Only Emeralds have the ability to heal with this stone. You said you're not an Emerald.
You lied to me. Why?
Illyia of Moonstone: I'm NOT lying. My sister's the Emerald. I'm just...holding onto it until I find her.
It doesn't seem to work on anyone but me, anyway.
You're lying. I don't know WHY you're lying to me, but you are.
It doesn't matter. Here.
Solina tosses the emerald back to Illyia.
I apologize for taking your glyphstone. It is not... my place to question an honoured Emerald... nor her motives.
Solina kneels down again.
Illyia of Moonstone: ...
The camera pans to the statue in the center of the room.
Solina: This is the Great Western Lighthouse. The second step of the Emerald Pilgrimage.
Long ago, a deadly illness spread across the Kingdom of Ithos, killing many people.
Most of those infected were forcibly quarantined here, at the edge of the Kingdom.
The First Emerald, a sickly girl from the slums, learned of their plight and immediately set off on a journey from Lowtown to find them.
She arrived here -- barely clinging to life from the bitter cold. She healed all the plagued denizens trapped wizthin this place until she collapsed from exhaustion, almost dying herself.
Her bravery, her kindness and her selflessness. It's no wonder the Goddess blessed her with such an incredible gift, is it?
But apparently -- not all of us are worthy of that honor
...who are we to argue with a Goddess...?
The camera pans back to Illyia and Solina, and Solina stands.
Go on ahead. Izusa is probably at the top, by now.
I'll just stay here... like I'm supposed to.
Solina bows to Illyia.
Moonlight guide you, Illyia of Moonstone.
The screen fades to black, and the Game Bonus Preview screen is shown. You are then taken to the title screen.

Echo Fragment 3/5
It's here, just as they said! A temporal leak, a true anomaly! No doubt a result of the island's strange time flow...
So many questions. More research must be done. I've set up my field camp. Finally, after all this time -- I'm going to be famous!
Echo Fragment 4/5
By the King's orders, do not let that filth through to the Central Shrine!
The can scream and pound the gate all they like. Pathetic. Let these rebels stew in their blight, for all I care.

The power station...
The door won't open without enough power...

Death Dialogue

After waking from death, Illyia has a chance to say the following lines:
Illyia of Moonstone: Huh? Was it -- was that just a dream?
Illyia of Moonstone: My head... what was that?
Illyia of Moonstone: A dream...?
Illyia of Moonstone:
